After the inauguration by Francisco José Fueyo, director of the Ruminants and Equine Unit at Zoetis Spain, who emphasized the importance of rearing, as “it is the productive future of the farm,” José María San Miguel, national technical specialist in Ruminants at Zoetis Spain, laid the foundations for genetic improvement. “The suitability of decisions made with the heifers” – he said – “depends on the quality of the information.” And this is where genomics comes in, opening up a vast field of decisions to be made about the heifers, with high reliability.

Meanwhile, Fernando Di Croce, global director of Genetic Technical Services at Zoetis, addressed how to raise a healthier and more profitable dairy cow, presenting genomic selection strategies to increase profitability, with practical cases carried out on American farms as examples. “Identifying animals with the highest genetic potential is key to the profitability of the dairy cattle farm,” explained Di Croce.

CLARIFIDE^® is a genomic test that offers an accurate prediction of the future productive behavior of the animals, allowing the dairy business objectives to be achieved as quickly and profitably as possible.
