Throughout the year, the company invested 8.2 million euros to enhance the efficiency and productivity of all its industries. This investment effort, similar to that made in the previous year, has allowed for significant improvements in the facilities to meet the growth of livestock production expected by the members in the short and medium term and, at the same time, continue to focus on product quality.
The increased volume of activity has allowed the company to create 45 new jobs and close the year 2017 with 708 people, consolidating itself as one of the engines of the sector, after accumulating a sustained increase in its workforce over the last 4 years, which has grown from 566 people in 2014 to the current 708.
Additionally, it continues to focus on the training of its workers and members with the launch of a Farmers’ School, aiming to achieve their best qualification.
According to Ricardo Delgado Vizcaíno, President of COVAP, “2017 has been a very positive year for COVAP thanks, fundamentally, to the effort, rigor, creativity, and entrepreneurship of our workers and members, for whom it has been a priority since the Cooperative was founded to meet our clients’ needs with excellence and the best quality.”
For Delgado Vizcaíno, “it is worth highlighting the importance that environmental issues, animal welfare, and animal health have for the Cooperative, to which special attention is paid. In this regard, we are firmly committed to the proper management of livestock waste and the rational use of antibiotics, and we design a code of good practices that allows us to achieve a fully sustainable farm model, in which our farmers are involved with significant investments.”
