Boehringer Ingelheim presents its new vaccine for mastitis control at the ANEMBE Congress

Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Spain participated in the Congress of the National Association of Bovine Medicine Specialists of Spain (ANEMBE), held in Valladolid, one of the reference meetings for the bovine veterinary sector at the national level.

During the congress, the company shared with the attending professionals the launch of Lenzelta®, the new vaccine for the control of bovine mastitis, a disease that continues to represent one of the main health and economic challenges for livestock farms.

Within the framework of the event, Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Spain organized a specialized symposium focused on a new approach to the knowledge and control of this disease. Under the name “Udder 360,” the session brought together nearly 300 professionals in an action that featured the participation of Patricia de Celis, Julio Benavides, Manuel Cerviño, and Sergio Santos, who addressed various aspects related to the prevention, management, and impact of mastitis on bovine farms. Manuel Cerviño, technical veterinary advisor for Ruminants at the company, was responsible for presenting the keys to the new vaccine. A novelty that comes to offer farmers and veterinarians an effective solution to care for dairy cattle and ensure the viability of the farms.

Lenzelta®: a new prevention tool against S. aureus and E.coli

Lenzelta® acts against two of the main pathogens responsible for mastitis, S. aureus and E. coli. By focusing on prevention in a critical phase of the lactation cycle, the vaccine helps create more stable conditions for milk production and animal welfare.

It is administered in two doses during the drying off period, which facilitates its integration into already established herd health routines. The administration schedule promotes an early onset of immunity and provides protection for up to six months, covering the period when cows are most susceptible to mastitis². The vaccine uses an oil-free adjuvant and is available in different presentations, adding flexibility to daily practice.

Presentation of the “Bovine Vaccinology Manual”

Beyond the scheduled talks, the symposium was the perfect setting for the presentation of the “Bovine Vaccinology Manual.” A practical work aimed at facilitating decision-making in the field and developed thanks to the collaborative work carried out over the last three years by Susana Astiz, Julio Benavides, Manuel Cerviño, Javier Nuviala, Luis Ortega, and Ramsés Reina.

With its participation in ANEMBE, Boehringer Ingelheim reaffirms its commitment to innovation and the advancement of animal health, promoting solutions and tools that contribute to improving the sustainability and profitability of livestock farms.
