The Soloextensivo Expert Group Exchanges Experiences and Knowledge on Extensive Beef Cattle Production at Their Annual Meeting

Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health España has brought together the members of the soloextensivo group in one of its annual meetings, held on June 9 and 10 in Plasencia. This initiative, created in 2018, is made up of veterinarians specialized in extensive cattle and is established as a reference forum for the exchange of experiences, technical advances, and discussion on the challenges of the sector.

On the first day, Julio Benavides (senior scientist at the CSIC – Mountain Livestock Institute) delivered a very engaging session on practical vaccinology, aiming to answer the main questions of veterinarians when establishing appropriate vaccination plans. Subsequently, José Antonio Zúñiga (veterinarian and group member) shared his experience with a portable NIR analyzer, to assess aspects such as the quality of grain and forage in the field, providing a technical perspective oriented towards real management conditions.

The second day included a guided professional visit by Eusebio Clemente, also a member of the group, to one of the farms under his control, which allowed firsthand insight into the day-to-day reality in an extensive beef cattle farm.

A professional network driven by Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health

Soloextensivo was born as a project of Boehringer Ingelheim to create a connection space among veterinary professionals dedicated to extensive livestock farming, promoting the sharing of technical knowledge, practical solutions, and on-the-ground experiences.

This initiative is part of the company’s commitment to continuous training and to supporting professionals in the sector, in this case, focusing on the particularities and opportunities of extensive beef cattle farming.
